Spay and Neuter Program

The Coffee County Humane Society is proud to offer financial assistance to low-income families to help spay or neuter their pets and provide a rabies vaccination, if the animal is not up to date on their rabies vaccine.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Families earning 150% of the Federal Poverty Level or less qualify for assistance (e.g., $45,000 annual income for a family of four).
• Proof of income is required.
• Assistance is limited to 2 owned animals per application, if you have more than 2, you may reapply for additional help after 60 days.

Owner Responsibilities:

• A co-pay donation is required prior to a voucher being issued, and varies depending on the size of the animal. Co-pays must be paid directly to the Coffee County Humane Society, as we are responsible for the vet bill.
• Unused vouchers will expire 30 days from the issue date if no appointment has been scheduled.
• Additional services, such as vaccines other than rabies or medications are not included and are owner responsibility. Low-Cost Clinic options can be found at this link.

Age and Weight Guidelines:

• Kittens must be at least 4-5 months old and meet the minimum weight requirement for surgery.
• Puppies must be at least 5-6 months old to qualify.

Tips for Estimating Weight at Home:

• Use a household scale: Weigh yourself first, then hold your pet and weigh yourself again. Subtract your weight from the combined total.
• If a scale isn’t available, estimate based on size and breed. For example, a healthy adult cat typically weighs between 8-10 pounds.

We also assist with Trap/Neuter/Release (TNR) for stray and feral cats under the care of a dedicated caretaker. If you’re interested in helping with TNR by trapping, transporting, or providing post-surgery recovery space, we’d love to hear from you!

Co-pay

If we have already contacted you about your application being approved, please provide the requested co-pay below. Your voucher will be issued within 3 business days of recieving payment. After your pet has recieved the services, the veterinary office will send us the invoice for us to pay. Your payment to us will be used to help us pay your invoice.
