Spay and Neuter Program

We primarily assist qualifying residents of Coffee County, Tennessee. Click here for other spay/neuter programs in Tennessee .

At Coffee County Humane Society, we’re proud to support families in need by providing financial assistance for spay/neuter services and rabies vaccinations for pets who aren’t yet protected.

  • Families earning 150% of the Federal Poverty Level or less qualify for assistance (e.g., $45,000 annual income for a family of four). Use the table below to check if you qualify.
  • Proof of income is required. Include all income from jobs, Social Security, disability, unemployment, pensions, and other sources for everyone living in your household. This includes income before taxes are taken out (gross income).

Income guidelines are based on the Federal Poverty Guidelines issued by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Current guidelines are for 2026.

How to calculate for larger families:

For each additional person living in the home, add $8,520 to the annual total (or $710 to the monthly total).

  • Spay (female) or Neuter (male) Surgery
  • Rabies Vaccine
  • Pain injection (for spays, when applicable)
  • In-heat surcharge (if applicable)

To confirm your commitment to your appointment and help us reduce no-shows, we ask for a small co-pay when you submit your application. Coffee County Humane Society will provide a voucher to a partnering vet covering the remaining cost.

  • Co-pay must be submitted with your application before a voucher will be issued.
  • Co-pays must be paid directly to Coffee County Humane Society (we pay the vet bill).
  • Unused vouchers will expire 30 days from the issue date if no appointment has been scheduled. You will be eligible to reapply. Your co-pay won’t expire.
  • Co-pays cannot be refunded.
  • Additional services such as vaccines other than rabies or medications are not included and are owner responsibility. Low-Cost Clinic options can be found at this link.

  • Kittens must be at least 4-5 months old and be at least 5 lbs.
  • Puppies must be at least 5-6 months old to qualify.
  • While appointment times depend on the vet, please wait until your pet is close to the appropriate age before applying.

You can estimate the weight of your pet by using a household scale (Weigh yourself first, then hold your pet and weigh yourself again. Subtract your weight from the total.)

Or you can estimate based on size and breed. For example, a healthy adult cat typically weighs between 8-10 lbs.

We also assist with Trap/Neuter/Release (TNR) for stray and feral cats under the care of a dedicated caretaker. There is not a separate application at this time. If you’re in need of TNR assistance, fill out the spay/neuter application below and note they are stray and/or feral in the comment section. For TNR, please wait to be contacted before paying a co-pay. If you’re interested in helping with TNR by trapping, transporting, or providing post-surgery recovery space, we’d love to hear from you!
